Tim Albin Announces Departure: Ohio University Head Coach Steps Down

In a surprising announcement, Tim Albin, head coach of Ohio University’s football team, has revealed his decision to step down from his position. Albin, who has been with the program for nearly two decades in various roles, including the last three years as head coach, made the announcement earlier today, citing personal reasons for his departure.

Albin took over the head coaching role in 2021 following the retirement of longtime coach Frank Solich, under whom Albin served as offensive coordinator for over a decade. During his tenure, he helped guide the Bobcats to multiple bowl appearances and was instrumental in shaping the team’s high-powered offense.

In a statement, Albin expressed his gratitude for the support he received throughout his time at Ohio. “Coaching at Ohio University has been one of the greatest honors of my career. I’m incredibly thankful for the players, staff, and administration who made this journey unforgettable. After much reflection, I believe it’s the right time for me to step aside and focus on other aspects of my life.”

Ohio University athletic director Julie Cromer also issued a statement, thanking Albin for his dedication and leadership over the years. “Tim has been a vital part of the success of our football program for many years. His contributions have left a lasting impact, and we wish him nothing but the best in his future endeavors.”

The news of Albin’s departure has left many in the Bobcats community surprised, especially considering his deep ties to the program. During his head coaching tenure, Albin continued to build on the foundation laid by Solich, keeping the team competitive in the Mid-American Conference (MAC).

Ohio University has not yet announced Albin’s successor, but a search for the next head coach is expected to begin immediately.

Albin’s departure marks the end of an era for Ohio football, and while his next steps remain unclear, his influence on the program and the countless players he mentored will not be forgotten.
