EXCLUSIVE – FOXES Prey on Premier League rival club as Leicester City SNAGS member of Newcastle’s coaching staff

Leicester City is set to strengthen their squad and weaken Premier League rivals Newcastle United by hiring a key member of their backroom staff.

With support from owner Aiyawatt Srivaddhanaprabha, Steve Cooper has been active in the transfer market this summer, significantly bolstering Leicester City. The club has already secured the signings of Issahaku Fatawu, Caleb Okoli, Michael Golding, and Bobby De Cordova-Reid.

Leicester City is expected to make further acquisitions before the transfer window closes as they aim to avoid relegation in the 2024/25 season. They have initiated discussions with Arsenal regarding a potential loan deal for Reiss Nelson, which could include an obligation to purchase. Additionally, Leicester’s pursuit of Arthur Melo received a boost when Everton withdrew their interest.

In recent developments, journalist Craig Hope reported on X/Twitter that Leicester City is poised to bring Ben Dawson from Newcastle United. Dawson, formerly the U21 manager for Newcastle, will be joining Steve Cooper’s coaching team, which also includes Alan Tate, Steve Rands, Andrew Hughes, Danny Alcock, and Matt Reeves.

Newcastle has confirmed Dawson’s departure with a statement on X, expressing their gratitude for his contributions and wishing him success in his new role.

Ben Dawson’s coaching career began in January 2009 when he was appointed Senior Football Development Officer for the Newcastle United Foundation. He also worked as a Youth Coach Educator and Youth Award Tutor for the Football Association from September 2010 to June 2014. Dawson’s tenure at Newcastle saw him take on various roles, including Professional Development Phase Coach, Head of Coaching (U21), and First-Team Development Coach.
