WEST HAM’S SAUDI SHOWDOWN! Hammers Face Off Against Middle Eastern Giants for Former Spurs Star’s Signature – Who Will Land the Prize?

West Ham United are reportedly interested in acquiring Ajax winger Steven Bergwijn.

The Hammers aim to rejuvenate their squad this summer, having already signed center-back Max Kilman and young midfielder Luis Guilherme. Additionally, Wes Foderingham has been brought in to enhance their goalkeeping lineup.

According to De Telegraaf, West Ham’s next target is a forward, and they are keen on bringing former Tottenham Hotspur winger Bergwijn back to the Premier League.

Bergwijn, 26, joined Tottenham in January 2020, making 83 appearances and recording eight goals and nine assists before leaving after a conflict with manager Antonio Conte. West Ham had shown interest in Bergwijn earlier in January but were hindered by Financial Fair Play regulations. Now, they appear ready to renew their pursuit.

Ajax, however, are reluctant to part with Bergwijn, who netted 12 goals in 24 Eredivisie matches last season. Nevertheless, the club may consider selling him to reinvest in their squad following a tough season, especially if they receive a suitable offer.

A bid of around €30m (£25.8m) is expected to secure a deal, with two unnamed Saudi Arabian clubs also expressing their willingness to meet this price.

Bergwijn must decide whether to stay with Ajax or seek a new opportunity. While his stance on moving to the Middle East is unclear, a return to London reportedly interests the Netherlands international.
