Tennessee Volunteers sophomore wing Cam Carr has departed the basketball program, intending to enter the NCAA Transfer Portal. Head Coach Rick Barnes expressed surprise and disappointment, noting that Carr “just walked out” without prior discussion.
Carr had been sidelined since November 17 due to a ligament injury in his left thumb, which required surgery. His departure leaves the Volunteers with a maximum of nine active scholarship players.
In response to Carr’s exit, Coach Barnes mentioned that the coaching staff would evaluate the current roster and consider potential additions. He stated, “We will talk about some things,” indicating that discussions are underway regarding roster adjustments.
As of now, no official announcements have been made about new player additions to the Tennessee basketball team following Carr’s departure. The situation remains fluid, and further updates are anticipated as the coaching staff assesses their options.
