Drought Conditions Worsen Across Alabama, Impacting Entire State
Montgomery, AL — The entire state of Alabama is facing increasingly severe drought conditions, with many regions already experiencing significant impacts on agriculture, water resources, and public safety. According to the latest report from the U.S. Drought Monitor, every county in Alabama is either currently experiencing drought or is projected to face drought conditions in the near future.
Meteorologists are attributing the worsening drought to a combination of prolonged high temperatures and below-average rainfall, which has left reservoirs, rivers, and lakes critically low. The hardest-hit areas, primarily in central and southern Alabama, are already facing “severe” or even “extreme” drought designations.
