Leeds United are gearing up to focus on new signings in the coming weeks as they return from their pre-season camp in Germany, with one key target hailing from Ukraine.
This summer, the 49ers have been active in generating revenue, selling six players and netting approximately £60 million through the departures of Archie Gray, Charlie Cresswell, Glen Kamara, and others.
With several new additions already on board, including Alex Cairns, Jayden Bogle, Joe Rodon, and Joe Rothwell, Leeds United are now looking to strengthen their squad further. The departures have created gaps that need filling, particularly in the full-back positions and as a replacement for Glen Kamara. Additionally, the squad lacks a natural attacking midfielder, though Brenden Aaronson, who has been used on the left wing, is back.
Under Victor Orta’s stewardship, Leeds United has earned a reputation for discovering young European talent and integrating them into the senior team. Players such as Illan Meslier, Mateo Joseph, Pascal Struijk, and Crysencio Summerville were acquired for under £10 million combined and are now vital to manager Daniel Farke’s plans.
Leeds are reportedly targeting Ukrainian youngster Gennadiy Synchuk from Metalist Kharkiv, a second-tier Ukrainian club. According to a report from Ta To Take on Telegram, Leeds are not the only Championship team interested in the Ukraine U23 talent; Sunderland, Derby, Middlesbrough, and several German clubs are also monitoring the situation.
However, Leeds are currently at the forefront of the race to secure Synchuk, who has been on their radar since winter. The cost of the 18-year-old right-winger remains uncertain, but Leeds appear set to bring him on board, potentially starting with the U21 team in the near future.
