“That will give the guys a boost…” Steve Cooper in an interview over FOXES Plan to Sign ‘New Faces’ – City in ‘Financial Terms’ discussion with Premier League rivals

Leicester City are reportedly negotiating with Arsenal for a potential transfer of winger Reiss Nelson as Steve Cooper seeks to strengthen his squad.

According to Fabrizio Romano, Leicester City is exploring an initial loan arrangement with an option to purchase. The discussions are currently focused on financial details.

City is optimistic about securing Nelson’s transfer, partly due to their prior connection. Nelson previously collaborated with Cooper during his time with the England U17s in 2015, where he notably scored 11 goals in 11 appearances.

This pursuit of Nelson follows Cooper’s statement that the club aims to acquire additional players before the 2024/25 Premier League season. “We hope to introduce several new faces, and I know the club is working diligently to achieve this,” Cooper said ahead of the 2-1 victory against Shrewsbury on Tuesday.

“Adding new players will also provide a boost to the team. We’ve had two excellent weeks, but it’s crucial to ensure that the upcoming week is even better.”

Nelson, who progressed through the Arsenal academy, struggled for consistent playing time last season, making only 15 Premier League appearances while Arsenal competed for the title against Manchester City.

So, would Nelson be a valuable addition to City? Our LeicestershireLive writers share their insights.
