As Daniel Farke aims to bounce back from last season’s disappointment and secure a Premier League spot in the upcoming campaign, Leeds United have reportedly made their initial move to strengthen their squad with a target from the Bundesliga.
Leeds Transfer Update
Leeds United, alongside their partners 49ers Enterprises, have had a varied summer transfer window. While they are still dealing with the loss of academy product Archie Gray to Tottenham Hotspur, they have managed to retain players like Crysencio Summerville and Wilfred Gnonto, and have added Jayden Bogle, Joe Rodon, Alex Cairns, and Joe Rothwell to their ranks.
There is still plenty of time for changes, especially with Gnonto linked to Everton, but currently, Leeds fans have reasons to stay positive.
Jayden Bogle, the latest addition, shared his excitement on Leeds’ official website: “It’s incredible to join Leeds. It’s a huge club and a fantastic opportunity. I was aware of the interest, and once I did, I knew this was where I wanted to be. This club and its staff are top-notch, and I’m really looking forward to getting started.”
Bogle may not be the final new face at Elland Road this summer. According to Bild via Sport Witness, Leeds have made a £3.4 million bid for Dejan Ljubicic, but their initial offer has been turned down by FC Koln’s director, Christian Keller.
Despite this setback, Leeds are likely to make a second offer for Ljubicic, who has expressed his desire not to renew his contract with Koln. With his current contract expiring next summer, Leeds might be in a favorable position to secure his transfer this summer.
Ljubicic as Kamara’s Replacement
Following Glen Kamara’s move to Stade Rennais, Leeds could look to Ljubicic as a direct replacement.
Although Ljubicic experienced relegation with Koln last season, he received praise from new manager Gerhard Struber, who said: “Dejan has been outstanding for FC in recent years and will be a key player for our return to the Bundesliga. His overall contribution is exceptional, and I’m thrilled for him.”
Ljubicic offers a different style from the more defensively-minded Kamara. With a tendency to take more shots, Ljubicic could provide Leeds with a fresh attacking option in midfield, potentially boosting their promotion chances if he joins before the transfer deadline at the end of August.
