West Ham United has initiated contact to sign Arkadiusz Milik, a Juventus striker who previously failed a trial at Tottenham in 2011.
Manager Julen Lopetegui is eager to bolster his attacking options, given the advancing age of Michail Antonio and Danny Ings, who combined for just eight goals last season.
According to Italian outlet Tuttosport, West Ham and Brentford have expressed interest in the Polish international, with Everton also inquiring about his availability a few weeks ago.
Juventus is willing to sell Milik, valuing him at €7m (£5.9m), after he fell out of favor under Thiago Motta, scoring only four goals in 32 Serie A appearances last season.
Despite his recent struggles, Milik has been praised by Polish legend Zbigniew Boniek, who likened him to Robert Lewandowski. However, Milik’s age (30) and recent goal-scoring record raise concerns.
He may not be the solution to West Ham’s striker problem, which Lopetegui aims to address. A younger alternative, like 20-year-old Jhon Duran from Aston Villa, who has expressed interest in joining West Ham, might be a more viable option.
