Chelsea manager Enzo Maresca is reportedly a great admirer of Leicester City goalkeeper Mads Hermansen, though it remains uncertain whether the Blues will pursue a transfer, according to journalist Tom Collomosse.
This summer has been particularly eventful for Chelsea, with six new players joining the team as they aim to strengthen their squad and secure a return to the Champions League next season.
As the team prepares for their pre-season tour in America starting Monday, they are reportedly seeking a goalkeeper, winger, and striker, though the total number of new signings remains unclear.
Last week, reports suggested that Chelsea was entering the market for a new goalkeeper, emphasizing the importance of good distribution skills.
Despite signing Robert Sanchez and Djordje Petrovic last summer, Maresca evidently believes the goalkeeper position needs further enhancement. Sanchez began the season as the starting goalkeeper but lost his place to Petrovic in December after a series of errors and an injury.
While Petrovic performed well, his style reportedly does not align with Maresca’s preferences for his goalkeepers, leading to speculation that Chelsea has offered him to Serie A’s Genoa.
Collomosse from Mail Sport reports that Maresca is particularly fond of Hermansen, who is valued at around £45 million. Maresca is familiar with the Danish goalkeeper, having signed him for Leicester last summer. Hermansen, 24, made 44 appearances and kept 13 clean sheets in the Championship, contributing to Leicester’s title win last season.
Should Hermansen join Chelsea, he would follow Maresca and Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall to Stamford Bridge. Chelsea has also been linked with goalkeepers James Trafford, Giorgi Mamardashvili, and Filip Jorgensen, who reportedly has a £35 million release clause.
