Former Leicester City defender Paul Appiah is currently on trial with AFC Wimbledon.
The centre-back participated in the Dons’ pre-season match against Met Police midweek and then played in their 5-2 defeat to Brentford. Last season, the Dutch defender was on loan at Maidstone before being released by Leicester City at the end of the season.

Johnnie Jackson, the Dons’ manager, spoke to South London Press about Appiah’s performance: “It was another good test for him. I thought he did well during the week at Met Police. He’s shown enthusiasm, a desire to work hard, and is trying to prove himself to earn a spot. He’s had a good week with us, so we will keep him around for next week. We will conduct some in-house activities to give him more minutes and a closer look. We will see how things develop.”
Appiah joined Leicester from Aston Villa but never played for the first team. However, he did appear for their under-21s in the EFL Trophy last season, including a 7-1 defeat to Wigan Athletic, a League One side.
