Alan Myers has provided an update on Everton’s pursuit of Wilfried Gnonto and Jesper Lindstrom during this summer’s transfer window.
In a post on his personal X account dated 18 July, the Sky Sports reporter responded to a fan’s question regarding Everton’s interest in the players from Leeds and Napoli.

Myers confirmed that Everton is indeed interested in both players. However, he indicated that the negotiations for the Italy international are in a more advanced stage compared to the ongoing discussions for Lindstrom, despite reports suggesting that the Danish player is “one step away” from joining Everton, as mentioned by Corriere dello Sport on 18 July.
Everton manager Sean Dyche is eager to enhance his squad’s attacking options this summer, with Gnonto seemingly being a top target. While Lindstrom is also on Everton’s radar, Napoli has yet to make a final decision on his future, which might delay any potential deal.
Gnonto has been a target for Everton since last summer. If it weren’t for the stubborn stance of Leeds’ owners, 49ers Enterprises, he might already be playing for Everton. The likelihood of securing a deal for Gnonto has increased significantly, especially after Leeds failed to secure promotion to the Premier League this season.
Everton’s Director of Football, Kevin Thelwell, is managing multiple transfer deals simultaneously to ensure that the squad is well-prepared by the end of the transfer window. Among these potential transfers, Gnonto stands out as a very real possibility for Everton.
This proactive approach aims to strengthen the team’s attacking capabilities, ensuring they are not left vulnerable once the window closes.
