Leeds United continue their summer clearance with Glen Kamara the latest departure from Elland Road, joining French club Rennes. Rasmus Kristensen is also expected to leave soon.
Kamara’s transfer marks the sixth player exit following the sales of Archie Gray, Marc Roca, Diego Llorente, Kris Klaesson, and Charlie Cresswell. These transactions have brought Leeds approximately £60 million in revenue.
In addition to these sales, four players have been loaned out: Sonny Perkins, Jack Harrison, Sam Greenwood, and Darko Gyabi. A number of players have also left on free transfers, including Liam Cooper, Jamie Shackleton, Ian Poveda, and Cody Drameh.
So far, Leeds have made only three new signings. The club has brought in Alex Cairns, Joe Rothwell, and Joe Rodon, while Brenden Aaronson has returned. The focus remains on generating funds and creating space for future additions.
Reports on Tuesday suggested that German club Eintracht Frankfurt, who recently signed Robin Koch from Leeds on a permanent basis, are interested in acquiring Denmark international Rasmus Kristensen. His departure from Leeds seems imminent.
Renowned football journalist Fabrizio Romano confirmed that Kristensen is on Frankfurt’s radar. Subsequently, reports from Denmark indicated that the proposed move to Frankfurt would likely be a loan deal with an option for a permanent transfer.
Danish media outlet Tipsbladet reported that FC Midtjylland, the reigning Danish champions, have also shown interest in Kristensen. The club approached him and even held meetings with the Leeds defender.
Kristensen began his career at Midtjylland, making 82 senior appearances before transferring to Ajax. A return to his boyhood club is expected at some point in his career. However, despite meeting with Midtjylland’s director of football, Claus Steinlein, Kristensen decided against a move this summer, feeling it was too soon for such a return.
Kristensen’s decision appears strategic, considering the interest from clubs in Europe’s top five leagues. This upcoming season is crucial for him, as he aims to perform well and secure a stable position.
