West Ham United’s Hunt For a Striking Sensation Heats Up as Hammers Zero in on a Fresh Attacking Talent This Summer After Spending £30 Million on Brazilian Midfielder

West Ham United’s summer has been bustling under new manager Julen Lopetegui. The club spent £30 million to acquire Luis Guilherme from Brazilian team Palmeiras, securing the teenager on a five-year contract.

Additionally, the Hammers signed Max Kilman from Lopetegui’s former club, Wolverhampton Wanderers, for £40 million. Kilman, Wolves’ former captain, committed to a seven-year deal with West Ham, extending his stay until he turns 34.

“It’s an amazing feeling to be a West Ham United player,” Kilman stated. “As soon as I learned of the Club’s interest, I was eager to join, and I couldn’t be more delighted to be here.”

Despite these acquisitions, West Ham’s attack still needs reinforcement. According to reports, Tim Steidten’s next transfer target is Everton striker Dominic Calvert-Lewin.

Football Insider reports that West Ham has inquired about Calvert-Lewin, listing him as a potential option for their frontline next season. Although Everton is reluctant to sell, Calvert-Lewin’s current contract, worth £100,000 per week, has just 12 months remaining, and he has yet to agree on an extension. This situation might compel Everton to sell, despite easing their financial concerns with the imminent sale of Amadou Onana.

The interest in Calvert-Lewin has also attracted other clubs, including Newcastle United, although the Magpies ended their pursuit in June.

Former Crystal Palace manager Patrick Vieira once praised Calvert-Lewin on Sky Sports, calling him “one of the complete players” in the Premier League. Last season, despite injuries, Calvert-Lewin scored seven goals under Sean Dyche, helping Everton avoid relegation. In comparison, only Jarrod Bowen and Mohammed Kudus scored more for West Ham, while Tomas Soucek and James Ward-Prowse also netted seven goals each. Veteran striker Michail Antonio had a disappointing season with just six goals.

If Lopetegui aims to maintain a style similar to his predecessor David Moyes, Calvert-Lewin would be a smart addition. His ability to hold up the ball and involve players like Kudus and Guilherme from the flanks would be invaluable.
