Everton had a strong start to the summer transfer window, securing three deals in June. However, activity has slowed down since then. Their focus on the Jaden Philogene situation has left them without a winger, prompting Kevin Thelwell to explore other options.
While Thelwell and Sean Dyche deliberate on potential wingers, the director of football continues to pursue other signings. One of Everton’s long-term targets, Jackson Tchatchoua, is reportedly eager to join the Merseyside club.
According to La Gazzetta dello Sport (13/07, page 22), Everton remain interested in Tchatchoua. Hellas Verona, described as a hub of player transfers, appears ready to let the Cameroon star go as Everton’s interest intensifies.
A report suggested Everton’s serious interest in Tchatchoua, and the latest updates indicate the 22-year-old is keen on moving to Goodison Park, likely due to the allure of the Premier League.
Dyche has been pursuing Tchatchoua for nearly two weeks, following initial reports of Everton’s interest.
Who is Jackson Tchatchoua?
Tchatchoua began his youth career with Standard Liege before joining Charleroi, where he made 64 first-team appearances. Born in Belgium to Cameroonian parents, he debuted for Cameroon’s U23 team in March 2023 and made his senior debut in a World Cup qualifier, earning one international cap so far.
Standing at 6 foot 1, Tchatchoua’s loan spell at Hellas Verona last season showcased his abilities in Serie A. Playing primarily as a right-back, he also took on more advanced roles, helping his team secure a mid-table finish.
Now, with Everton as a potential destination, it will be interesting to see if Tchatchoua can further elevate his performance in the Premier League.
