Despite Leeds United’s ambitions for the Premier League next season, several players are unlikely to stay at the club beyond the transfer deadline under Daniel Farke’s management.
The squad is already undergoing significant changes, with key players expected to follow Archie Gray out of the club. Additionally, players who left due to loan clauses will need their futures resolved promptly, allowing the club to focus on incoming transfers for Farke.
The Daily Mail reports that Leeds may need to generate approximately £100 million from player sales after failing to secure immediate promotion back to the Premier League, despite a lucrative sponsorship deal with Red Bull.
Young talents like Crysencio Summerville, Willy Gnonto, Georginio Rutter, and Gray are likely to be sold to balance the books, enabling Leeds to make necessary investments in new players.
Leeds have released Luke Ayling, Lewis Bate, Robin Koch, Jamie Shackleton, and Ian Poveda. They have sold Gray, Luis Sinisterra, Marc Roca, Kristoffer Klaesson, Charlie Cresswell, and Diego Llorente, while Jack Harrison, Darko Gyabi, Sonny Perkins, and Sam Greenwood have secured loan moves.
Although football is unpredictable and situations can change quickly, here are some players likely to leave the club by the August 30th deadline.
Summerville:
Summerville’s departure seems inevitable. The Dutch winger, who won the Championship Player of the Year award at 22, has attracted interest from top-flight clubs, including Newcastle United, Aston Villa, and Chelsea.
Max Wöber:
Austrian defender Max Wöber joined Leeds in January of last year but has performed well on loan at Borussia Mönchengladbach in the Bundesliga. He may have permanent suitors in a top-flight league this summer. In June, Wöber told Austrian news outlet Kleine Zeitung that he would decide on his future after the European Championships. According to Football Insider, Leeds are open to selling him following his loan spell.
Rasmus Kristensen:
Rasmus Kristensen played 30 games for Leeds in his single season, scoring three goals and registering one assist. The club will likely accept any reasonable offer for Kristensen this summer after his loan at AS Roma, as he has been a largely forgettable signing. Most players who received loan moves, except Brenden Aaronson, are unlikely to be reintegrated next season.
Joe Gelhardt:
Joe Gelhardt’s future at Leeds is uncertain due to his stalled development over the past couple of seasons. The club may seek a loan move to help him regain form, with plans to utilize him in the 2025/26 season. Despite no concrete offers yet, Scottish clubs Celtic and Rangers, along with West Brom, have shown interest in the 22-year-old forward.
