Dele joined Everton in January 2022 after limited opportunities at Spurs. He transferred on a free, with various potential bonuses included, such as one tied to signing a new deal at Goodison Park.

Under Frank Lampard, Dele saw limited action and was loaned to Besiktas for the 2022-23 season. By the time he returned, Sean Dyche had replaced Lampard, but injuries have prevented Dyche from playing Dele.

Although Dele’s Everton contract expired in June, he has been receiving treatment for an injury at the club. According to The Mail, Everton’s new agreement with Spurs means they can offer Dele a new deal without triggering a significant payment to Tottenham.

Dele’s last match was in February 2023 for Besiktas in the Super Lig against Antalyaspor. A muscle injury sidelined him for the rest of that season, and another setback occurred when he was close to returning to Everton’s first team.

His last appearance for Everton was in August 2022 before moving to Turkey. He has only made 13 Premier League appearances for Everton due to injuries and has been open about his mental health struggles.

Despite these challenges, some believe Dele can still rebuild his career. At 28, his 37 England caps highlight his talent.

Even though he didn’t play last season, Dele contributed off the pitch. Everton secured Premier League survival despite receiving two points deductions.

Sean Dyche commented in November, “Dele had a period when things were drifting for him. He faced many challenges, and his mental health battle coming to light has allowed him to focus on football. Though he hasn’t been able to train with us, he is engaged and clear-minded, offering insights and sharing his opinions.”
